The best natural beauty products

31 July 2015 | Health, Inspire Me, Life Musings

Did you catch last week’s Buyers Guide to Natural Beauty compiled by the gorgeous Nina Weston from www.BeautifulBecause.com.au?

I hope it made the world of natural, eco-friendly skincare and makeup a little less scary and très inviting.

If you’re still feeling a little overwhelmed by the concept of switching your already established foolproof makeup bag for a more conscious, toxin free and skin-friendly loot, then you’re going to love this post.

After doing an Inspired Wednesdays interview with the gorgeous natural make up artist Emmily Banks from Depths of Beauty a couple of months back, I decided to bite the bullet and book myself in for a natural make up consult and a bit of a how-to tutorial.

Oh Em Gee!

I cannot recommend doing this enough! Getting advice from someone who has already researched and used all of this stuff is #priceless.

The last thing you want to do is purchase new products to ‘experiment’ with. Mistakes are an expensive exercise. Right?

Emmily is your go-to girl for anything and everything when in it comes to natural beauty products. She has spent years researching and trialling all of the different brands to find the stuff that works best. If you really want to delve into the world of natural beauty I suggest you spend some time on her blog reading reviews and checking out some of her tutorials.

And for all you naysayers that  don’t think that natural make up can deliver like the regular stuff, think again. Emmily’s entire professional makeup kit is natural and eco-friendly so whether she’s putting on a bit of lip and some bronzer to run down to the shops, or doing makeup for a high end editorial photoshoot she uses the same gear.

After a 2 hour consult with this make up genius I don’t think I’ll ever wear the ‘other’ stuff again.

Make sure you scroll down below to see the ah-mazing offer Emmily has for The Inspired Table readers.

So this is what my beauty routine consists of now. It’s list of the best natural beauty products as recommended by Emmily and road-tested with a big fat tick of approval by me.

You can buy most of these products from BeautifulBecause.com.au (except RMS which is now stocked at Mecca Cosmetica).

Make-Up Kit

Foundation: Inika Liquid Foundation (I wear Beige)

Light and beautiful with a good amount coverage. It feels like tinted moisturiser and gives a beautiful dewy finish. #betterthannars

INIKA_Certified_Organic_Liquid_Mineral_Foundation_Beige

Concealer/foundation: RMS uncover-up

This stuff is genius. A tiny pot that fits into your hand bag. You only need the tiniest amount and it covers imperfections better than any of that chemical-laden crap. Plus it feels like silk. #obsessed.

Tinted Moisturiser: Madara Moonflower Tinting Fluid (I wear Rose Beige)

I wear this most days. It looks like you’re wearing nothing at all and evens out skin tone perfectly. Plus it smells herbaceous and delicious. #dontleavehomewithoutit.

Illuminator: RMS Living Luminizer

Fan of illuminator? Buy this. Enough said #changeyourlife.

Bronzer: Ere Perez Pure Rice Powder Bronze Tones

I love that this has two shades of bronze. Emmily taught me a neat conturing trick using this baby, so if you see me around sporting amazingly chiseled cheekbones you’ll now know why. #kimkardashian.

Eye Liner: Ere Perez Jojoba Eye Pencil Black

Eye liner is eye liner to me, but this feels soft like butter (but really it’s soft like jojoba oil). #pandaeyes.

EP Organic Jojoba Eye Pencil Black Open

Eyeshadow: Lily Lolo Eye Palette

I have never been an eyeshadow gal, mostly because I have no idea what I’m doing… This palette makes me wanna learn, pronto! Plus it’s compact enough to fit in your makeup bag. #smokeyeye.

Mascara: Ere Perez Natural Almond Oil Mascara

I don’t like drama when it comes to everyday lashes, just a slick of black. So this stuff is perfection. #iwokeuplikethis.

But if you’re after a more dramatic look everyones says this is THE BEST…. #dragqueen

Lip Balm: Hurraw Black Cherry Lip Balm

All of Hurraw’s flavours are the bomb, but this one gives a yummy red tint #katyperrymightpashyou

Toiletries

Cleanser: Jojoba Oil

After a lengthy chat with Emmily I now cleanse, moisturise and treat pimples with this stuff. Yep, one product for everything. #savingcoin

Day Moisturiser:  Dr Hauschka Rose Cream

I pop on some a tiny bit of oil and then follow up with an old favourite. I have VERY dry skin and this stuff combined with the oil is the only thing that stops it flaking off into my coffee. #tmi.

Night Moisturiser: Antipodes Divine Face Oil Organic Avocado Oil & Rosehip

I discovered this by accident the other day and I am in love. I pop some of this on before bed after cleansing with the jojoba oil. #cantstopstrokingmyface

Toothpaste: Red Seal Baking Soda

Of all the natural toothpastes on the market this is by far my favourite. #widegrin.

Deodorant: Black Chicken Axilla Deodorant Paste

I’ve saved the best to last. This deodorant is so good. It is incredible at neutralising odour and has gotten me through many a sweaty hot yoga class. I cannot recommend it enough. Emmily and I actually had a bit of a fan girl moment over it when it came up in conversation #deocrush

Now to that extra special deal! It’s all very well me recommending what works for me, but finding out exactly what the best natural beauty products for you and your skin type, colouring tone etc will save you so much time and money in the long run #truth.

Emmily Banks is offering a 10% discount off a $150 1.5hr natural beauty consult with her. All you have to do is pop her an email at emmily@depthsofbeauty.com.au and mention this blog post.

I would love to hear about any products that you love and recommend in the comments below.

Brilliant – thanks for sharing! I have been making the transition as my products have ran out – I never wear make up so feeling the need to upgrade that now otherwise it might be another 15 years… I’ve also been loving edible beauty too for skincare x
